Three Asian Men in the Australian Open 2011
At #37, Yen-Hsen Lu of Chinese Taipei is the highest ranked Asian player in the men's draw, and should have the best chance to advance in this Grand Slam of the Asia-Pacific. However, he has a rematch in the first round against this year's Sydney Medibank International champion, Gilles Simon, where he was drubbed easily. Should be revenge time for him this time around!
At #82, Kei Nishikori of Japan is another Asian who is in the main draw of this event. He faces Italy's Fabio Fognini in the first round, a relatively good pick and if he goes through, he runs smack to Nikolay Davydenko in his part of the draw.
Finally,Somdev Devvarman of India is the third Asian in the main draw, and he is slated to meet veteran Tommy Robredo, not a very easy assignment.
I do hope one of these guys make it deeper into the draw.
