Vesna Manasieva: Breakout Player Australian Open 2011

Vesna Manasieva of Russia is our awardee for the BreakOut Player for the Australian Open 2011.  This award is given to the player ranked outside the Top 100, who makes it the farthest in the Grand Slam tournament.  Vesna is the lowest ranked player to go as far as the third round for this Grand Slam.

Currently ranked #146, Vesna qualified for the main draw of the Australian Open 2011 and she made good use of the opportunity by beating Laura Pous-Tio in the first round, 75 62.  Then she won over Marion Bartoli in the second round 36 63 60.  However, in the 3rd round, she lost to Latvian Anastasija Sevastova 16 36.
