The Quirky and Smart Andrea Petkovic
I know we don't normally equate German people with fun. Even in tennis, Steffi Graf and Boris Becker were not really quirky people and frankly, you can really just count the times that they smile in their pictures. So I was really surprised to find out that Andrea Petkovic was not only smart, she had her quirky ways herself.
Anyway, a TV commentator suggested that we read her blog - now, I forget the link, but at that time that I read it, it was so funny! I reckon she could be a TV writer! A few tournaments later, I find her having her own Petko dance, which she does after every round of victory! What a quirky way to celebrate a victory!
She has shown some mettle in this Australian Open though, by reaching the quarterfinals, considering that she is only ranked in the 30s. This good performance here bodes well for her ranking. The way she plays, looks more like a Top 20 player really, so we hope to see more of her in the next Grand Slams.
