Rooting For Agi in 2013!

Agnieszka Radwanska
I haven't been cheering for any particular tennis player since Elena Dementieva retired a few years ago. This year though, I've been cheering for Agi Radwanska because I fell in love with the way she plays. Babaeng-babae talaga maglaro hehe kasi naman sila Serena maglaro, parang lalaki kalaban mo, hindi suave, demolition job talaga, pangit panoorin - but if you watch Agi, she plays like Martina Hingis, and with a little bit more confidence, she has the skills to defeat Serena and hopefully win her first Grand Slam in 2013.
I am writing about her because I was shocked to find out that out of 65000 votes for favorite player voted by fans this year, she got around 28000 votes, making her the most popular female player! Akala ko ako lang ang nag-eenjoy na panoorin siya, marami pala kami hehe Elena Dementieva was also a consistent most favorite fan player of the year awardee!!

Fantasy Mixed Doubles 2012: Top Eight Teams

Lucy Hopman Petra Kvitova and Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic pose with the Hopman Cup and Lucy Hopman after defeating Marion Bartoli and Richard Gasquet of France during day eight of the 2012 Hopman Cup at The Burswood Dome on January 7, 2012 in Perth, Australia.

The tennis calendar for both the ATP and the WTA tours are finally over for 2012 so it's the time of year where I play my own fantasy tennis using this week's rankings of both tours.

The first fantasy tournament involves a 'Hopman'-like Cup where a country is composed of one male and one female player and both will play singles and doubles.

Here are the countries that qualified this year and their group assignments:

Group A

SERBIA
Novak Djokovic
Ana Ivanovic

USA
John Isner
Serena Williams

GERMANY
Philipp Kohlschreiber
Angelique Kerber

POLAND
Jerzy Janowicz
Agnieszka Radwanska

Group B

CZECH REPUBLIC
Tomas Berdych
Petra Kvitova

FRANCE
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Marion Bartoli

RUSSIA
Mikhail Youzhny
Maria Sharapova

The Insanely Hot Zaira Nara and Juan Monaco

The surprises haven't let up!  Argentinian player Juan Monaco, who is a looker himself, is said to be going out with Zaira Nara.

Cecilia de Liberti: Juan Martin Del Potro's Novia

Hmmm.....I think Juan Martin Del Potro's taste in women is a bit different. Cecilia de Liberti looks too old for him haha even though she's voluptuous in all the right places!

Jarah Mariano: Fernando Verdasco's Date (For Now)

I didn't know Spanish player, Fernando Verdasco, liked Asian-looking women.  Check out the voluptuous Jarah Mariano, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model and find out what a lucky devil Fernando is!

Venus Williams New Italian Boyfriend

Don't you just hate Venus Williams for snagging such a yummy Italian boyfriend - and his complete name hasn't even been released for public consumption.  He just really looks hot, don't you think?

Patrick Mouratoglou: Serena Williams' Main Squeeze

Now that the tennis season has just winded down, most of the articles I'll be writing for the next two months will be the things people search about their favorite tennis players and of course other aspects about their lives, like their love lives!

And who is more fitting to feature here than the current queen of women's tennis, Serena Williams.  I have already written about the news about her and her lover, Patrick Mouratoglou.  This is the first article though that I'm writing about him - with his pictures.

Women Players Who Have Potential to Win a Grand Slam in 2013: Angelique Kerber

I admit I too was shocked to see Angelique Kerber in the US Open semifinal in 2011, knowing that she was just a player ranked in the 80s, and to suddenly make it to the semis of a major, whew, that was big!  To think she only reached the first round of all the other majors of that year.

Well, Angie made it even bigger in 2012, now leading the very resurgent German women's tennis as that country's #1 player.

She made this year's semifinals in Wimbledon - not surprised there - and she's definitely one of the players, who, if given a good draw, and well, more mental strength, could possibly win a Grand Slam in 2013.

Maybe a good goal for her now is to try to get into a Grand Slam final, and maybe, work her way from there.

Although she lost here in this clip in the semi's of Wimbledon, it was still her best performance this year in terms of depth into a major tournament.
