Bethanie Mattek-Sands was a top 30 player last year but didn't exactly have a good year and has now sunk to #167.  Surprisingly, she beat Sabine Lisicki of Germany in the first round, 64 63, currently ranked #12 in the world. Dinah Pfizenmaier: Player Ranked Outside Top 100 Who's Into Second Round of French Open 2012

German women's tennis is really experiencing a Renaissance nowadays.  It's not like they need another player to be in the top 100.  Anyhow, Dinah Pfizenmaier, currently ranked #198, reaches the second round of Roland Garros this year.  She won over local girl Caroline Garcia (#135), 36 64 63.  Her second round opponent though is world #1 Victoria Azarenka, where she lost 61 61.  If she continues the way she plays, she should be in the top 100 in no time!

Eduardo Schwank: Player Ranked Outside Top 100 Who's Into Third Round of French Open 2012

Eduardo Schwank was a top 50 player 2 years ago and in 2008, he reached the third round of the French Open, on his first outing here.  He duplicates the feat this year at a rank of 192.  He defeated Florian Mayer of Germany (ranked #35) in the second round today 26 63 64 76(4).  In the first round, he defeated Ivo Karlovic (ranked #59) 64 60 63.  Eduardo is definitely playing way above his ranking, considering the pedigree of his competition.  However, he is in for a tough match in the third round - his opponent - defending champion, Rafael Nadal (ranked #2).

Tommy Haas: Player Ranked Outside Top 100 Who's Into Second Round of French Open 2012

At the ripe old age of 34, Tommy Haas is still pounding the tennis court, still causing damage here and there.  This time around, he defeated Italian Filippo Volandri (ranked #81) in the first round, 63 06 64 64.  Currently ranked #112 in the world, Haas has a good chance of making it into the third round, as his opponent in the second round is Kazakh Sergiy Stakhovsky (ranked #84).  As for me, I hope reaches as far as the quarterfinals!  If he just plays good enough, he can achieve it!  He has reached the 4th round here twice, in 2002, and 2009.
