Philipp Kohlschreiber is one of my favorite players because of the sublime way that he plays - so it was great to see him contest the final of his home tournament, the Munich Open today. It was actually a very close match between him and the equally talented Croat, Marin Cilic. In the first set, they were tit for tat which ended in a tiebreaker which Kohlschreiber had to win in a very tight way. I think it reached up to 9 points!
In the second set though, Kohlschreiber ran away, after the score 2-2, and although it ended at 62, it was still a very tight match and the score only indicated that Cilic was not able to break through in the crucial points.
I hope this improves Philipp's ranking so that he is assured a seeding in Roland Garros. He reached the 4th round of Melbourne this year. I think he can also achieve that in RG, if given a good draw!
