Without Serena, Maria and Victoria in the mix in this year's French Open, it has become a bit of a free-for-all for anyone who wants to win a grand slam.
With Angelique Kerber out in the first round, this side of the draw has really opened up and based on the head-to-head, Samantha Stosur of Australia has the best record among all the players.
She has some formidable opponents waiting for her though, most of them up-and-coming players. They will most likely be American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine, and Zhang Shuai of China.
She is also slated to meet defending champion Garbine Muguruza in the semi's if they both go through. Simona Halep could be her opponent in the finals.
She has reached the semi's here in '09, '12 and '16 and was in the finals in 2010, where she lost to Italian Francesca Schiavone, so it's a surface she's pretty comfortable in - so it would be a good chance for her to step up to the plate now that some of the top seeds are not present.
