French Open 2017: My Picks on the Women's Side - Gabrine Muguruza

In my book, there are two major contenders for the French Open title this year. One of them is in the bottom upper draw and it's last year's champion, Garbine Muguruza.

And I think she can retain that crown this year. I saw her second round match today against Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, and she really was calm throughout the game and showed her power as the game progressed.

If she can maintain that composure and killer instinct throughout this tournament, it's for her to lose the title. She will also meet some dangerous players on the way. The most likely ones are Yulia Putintseva of Ukraine, Shelby Rogers of the US and Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland.

A possible clash with Samantha Stosur may happen in the semi's and Simona Halep in the finals loom.
