The women's side has their own set of interesting first round match-ups. Here are my Top 5 picks -
#1 Francesca Schiavone (ITA) vs. Kimiko Date-Krumm (JPN) - a senior slugfest if ever there was one! Both accomplished players, one a French Open champion.
#2. Li Na (CHN) vs. Sorana Cirstea (ROU) - If my memory serves me right, Sorana reached a quarterfinal or was it a fourth round, here in Roland Garros. To be matched up with last year's FO champion may have been something Sorana did not want, maybe Li Na too!
#3 Lucie Hradecka (CZE) vs. Julia Goerges (GER) - Lucie was my find for this year's clay court season. She's a very talented yet raw singles player. Goerges is no pushover, herself.
#4 Peng Shuai (CHN) vs. Tamira Paszek (AUT) - Once in a while, Paszek shows her potential, while Peng has already shown hers.
#5 Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) vs. Eleni Daniilidou (GRE) - Eleni has been looking for her comeback match while Caroline has not been in good form lately.
