This is the first time I've encountered German player Matthias Bachinger, who ends up getting into his first semifinal this year in the Bucharest Open. Ranked outside the Top 100 getting into the tournament, he had to defeat compatriot Daniel Brands, Victor Troicki and Filippo Volandri to achieve that semifinal berth. All those guys were ranked higher than him. He lost though to eventual champion, Gilles Simon 75 62. Because of his stellar performance in Bucharest, he climbs to #103.
