One of the more intelligent players in the tour, Andrea Petkovic starts the year with a bang - by finishing runner-up to Petra Kvitova in this year's Brisbane International.

Andrea is the beneficiary of the early exits of seeded players, Stosur and Dulgheru. She also had victories over two players ranked higher than she is (#32). She also had two bagel sets. This is a good start to her 2011 campaign!
