We normally associate Roberta Vinci (#23) with clay court prowess, but this season, Vinci reached the finals here in Dallas, and as of the moment, is contesting the title with Jelena Jankovic. She had wins over Su-Weih Hsieh (#57), Polona Hercog (#63), Channelle Scheepers (#62) and Bojan Jovanovski (#87) in this tournament. She also reached the quarterfinals in Montreal.
