Ferrer's US Open 2012 First Round and Draw Analysis

David Ferrer will meet Kevin Anderson (#35) in the first round of the 2012 US Open and although they've never met before, it should be a tough match for Ferrer, whose summer season has not been really good.

This draw will surely be the most open as the top 2 seeds, David Ferrer and Janko Tipsarevic, are not really known hardcourt specialists.  Tipsarevic is slated to meet Guillaume Rufin in the first round and this is also their first meeting.

Ferrer has tough opponents in his side of the draw which include two hardcourt specialists, Richard Gasquet and Mikhail Youzhny. I pick Richard Gasquet to reach the quarterfinals in Ferrer's side of the draw.

Tipsarevic also has very tough opponents in his side of the draw, including the tricky Brian Baker, Victor Troicki and John Isner.  I pick Isner to win his side of the quarterfinals.

I pick John Isner to get the semifinal slot in Ferrer's side of the draw.
