Tim Smyczek of the US, ranked #179 in the world, won over fellow American, Bobby Reynolds, ranked #151 in the world, 16 64 62 46 64. This is the first time he has reached the second round of the US Open and of any of the four Grand Slams. He will meet Kei Nishikori, #17 in the world, in the second round.
