On the eve the US Open, Tomas Berdych reached the finals of Winston Salem but lost to John Isner. However, he also had wins over Sam Querrey, Steve Darcis, Jarkko Nieminen and Alex Bogomolov Jr.
He reached the fourth round of both Cincinnati and Toronto, winning over Yen-Hsun Lu and Julien Bennetteau, but lost to Milos Raonic and Richard Gasquet.
Overall, it has not really been a great summer for Berdych but still, with his finals appearance in the tournament this week, it should give him the confidence needed in the US Open fortnight.
