Daniel Brands of Germany, ranked #123 in the world, outplayed Adrian Ungur of Romania, ranked #110 in the world, 76(4) 64 76(5) in the first round of the US Open. He will next meet Marin Cilic of Croatia in the second round, ranked #13 in the world.  This is the first time he has reached the second round of the US Open.
