Steve Johnson: Player Ranked Outside the Top 100 Who Reached the Third Round of the US Open 2012

Steve Johnson, American collegiate player, has already reached the third round of this year's US Open, despite being ranked #246 in the world.  He won his first round match against American Rajeev Ram, ranked #95 in the world, then won over the talented Ernests Gulbis of Latvia in the second round, ranked #145 in the world.

He now faces serious competition in the third round as he's slated to meet Frenchman Richard Gasquet, ranked #14.
