One of Britain's top players, Anne Keothavong's (#93) semifinal appearance in Luxembourg is actually her best performance in the WTA tour this year. This puts her safely in the seeded area in time for the Australian Open next year. I hope she gets into the tournament without having to qualify.
Here in Luxembourg, she lost to Monica Niculescu (#34) 57 64 36 in the semifinals. In the quarters, she ended the fairy tale run of Bibiane Schoof (#199) 63 62. She defeated Ana Ivanovic (#23) 63 62 in the second round. In the first round, she ended the hopes of local favorite Mandy Minella (#122) 63 16 63.
