David Ferrer: A Semifinalist in Tokyo
David Ferrer (#5) is more well-known for his clay court supremacy but here in the tennis courts of Tokyo, he has also shown that he can play well in hard court. He reaches the semi-finals and lost to Andy Murray (#4) 64 75.
In the quarterfinals, he tamed veteran Radek Stepanek (#24) 62 76(3). In the second round, he won over Matthew Ebden (#137) of Australia 67(4) 64 64 and defeated local boy Kei Nishikori (#47) in the first round 64 63.
