Lucie Safarova's (#27) last good performance came in the Copenhagen Open in June where she reached the finals, only to lose to hometown favorite, Caroline Wozniacki. A few months later, here in October, Lucie reaches another semifinal here in Linz, only losing to Dominika Cibulkova (#23) 61 64.
In her quarterfinal match, she won over Sorana Cirstea (#78) 75 62. In the second round, she dispatched Alberta Brianti (#74) 64 62 and battled it out with compatriot Iveta Benesova (#48) in the first round 64 36 63.
