Australian Matthew Barton, currently ranked #248, makes a maiden second round appearance in this year's Wimbledon. He had a tough first round match against a fellow qualifier, Albano Olivetti (#793) of France 67(7) 76(5) 63 67(5) 1412.
His story is similar to British player Marcus Willis who had to fight through qualifying as well, to reach the grand slam main draw.
In his second round match against John Isner (#17), Barton fought tooth and nail in every set 76(8) 76(3) 76(8).
That scoreline against a top 20 player just shows how much Barton wanted to prove himself to the rest of the field. The score shows that he wants to belong in that field - and by his performance here - it shows that he can belong.
