Tommy Haas was allowed into the main draw of this year's US Open because of his previous good record here. He was after all, a former #2 player in the world.
He makes good use of his entry, reaching the third round. He edged Frenchman Jonathan Dasnieres de Veigy (#247) in the first round, 63 64 67(5) 61, then defeats Alejandro Falla (#119) of Colombia in the second round 76(5) 61 75, but lost to Argentine Juan Monaco (#36) 76(3) 36 26 36 in the third round.
