There hasn't been much of a British impact on women's tennis lately but it doesn't mean there are no upcoming British female players in the pipeline. Meet 17-year old Laura Robson, currently ranked #173.
She reached the second round of the US Open 2011. She had to qualify to reach the main draw. She drew Ayumi Morita of Japan (#47) where she won 76(5) 10 Ret. She lost in the second round though to veteran Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain (#33) 26 36.
Her ranking has now moved up to #146 after this Grand Slam, her highest ranking as of yet.
