Bethanie Mattek-Sands: Semi-finalist - Paris Open 2011
Taking advantage of the sudden withdrawal of Maria Sharapova, Bethanie Mattek-Sands took care of the other seed, Andrea Petkovic, to take her spot in the semi-finals of this prestigious event. This should really bolster her rankings next week. She however, lost to Petra Kvitova. She has had a good start to 2011, reaching the finals in Hobart (losing to Jarmila Groth), then her semi-final run here. This was her path to the semi's -
