Movistar Open: Three Second Round Interesting Match Ups
Sadly, no Chilean player goes into the second round of the Movistar Open here in Santiago, Chile. Instead, their neighbors, Argentina and Brazil, lead the charge into the second round with four players each, with David Nalbandian leading the Argentine charge and Thomaz Bellucci, the Brazilian charge. Spain has three players into the second round too.
For me, the three most interesting second round match-ups are as follows -
1. Igor Andreev (RUS) (#72) vs. Santiago Giraldo (COL) (#57)
Igor has already reentered the Top 100 early this year and may continue to improve. He did a good job dispatching the Argentine Eduard Schwank in the first round. Let's see how he fares against higher ranked Giraldo in their second round match.
2. Tommy Robredo (ESP) (#40) vs. Ricardo Mello (BRA) (#77)
Tommy's good performance in the Australian Open should be a boost to his confidence and hopefully he does well also in this tournament as he can make short shrift of his second round opponent, Ricardo Mello.
3. David Nalbandian (ARG) (#19) vs. Horacio Zeballos (ARG) (#108)
I always like watching David Nalbandian play, so it would be interesting how he deals with a much lower ranked player.
