Juan Ignacio Chela (#23) was the top seed in the Bucharest Open, but he lost to Spaniard Pablo Andujar (#43) 46 57 in the semifinals.
In the quarters, he won over Andreas Seppi (#51) 75 63 and in the second round, he routed Frenchman Florent Serra (#146) 61 60.
