Silvia Soler-Espinosa (#141) of Spain gets to the third round of the US Open this year, the deepest she has been into any Grand Slam. In the first round, she took care of veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm (#59) 76(5) 76(2), then defeated last year's Wimbledon semifinalist, Kaia Kanepi (#34) 64 62 in the second round. She lost to compatriot Carla Suarez Navarro (#76) 06 46 in the third round.
For her efforts this week, her rankings move up to #110.
