Argentinian player Renzo Olivo (#174) defeated Jiri Vesely of the Czech Repubic (#50) 67(8) 62 62 46 46 in the first round of the Australian Open. This is his very first grand slam appearance.
Olivo also went through qualifying to gain entry into the main draw of this Australian Open. That has served him well, as he wins his first round match against a player ranked three times higher than him.
He will next meet fellow Argentinian Federico Delbonis (#53) in the second round. He has a good chance of reaching the third round of this grand slam.
