Rafa kinda dropped off the winner's circle last year and it was a bit painful to see him struggle in his matches, especially when he loses to players he's not supposed to lose to. You can really see that he's lost some of his mojo and confidence to compete at a very high level.
However, there were bright spots towards the end of 2015, when he started winning in the smaller tournaments again, and it was great to see him do well in the Qatar Open, just losing to Novak.
It would be nice to see him have that killer instinct once again.
Among the prospective players he may meet are Benjamin Becker, Gael Monfils and Ernests Gulbis. Unfortunately, he also has the dangerous Stan Wawrinka on his side of the draw, and should they both reach the QFs, this would be a very crucial match for him, knowing how tricky the Swiss can be when he's on.
It would be a tough road from then on as both Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic loom in the horizon, two players who have been so dominant in this slam these past six years.
One consolation is that he was in the finals here two years ago, so he just has to find his form again to reach that stage of the slam once again.
