Florent Serra: Player Outside the Top 100 Into the Second Round of the Australian Open 2012
Veteran French player Florent Serra, currently ranked at #156, gets into the second round of the Australian Open. He has been ranked as high as #36 in 2006. Serra has been a bit lucky in the draw here, getting Belgian Steve Darcis in the first round, winning over him as the latter retired. He will next play the player from Chinese-Taipei, Yen-Hsun Lu currently ranked #79. It should be a good draw for him since it gives him a chance to make it into the third round. If he does that, his rankings should improve a lot!
