Fearless Forecast Australian Open 2012: Top Upper Men's Draw
Defending champion Novak Djokovic (#1) will have to play really well since he drew a tough section of the draw. Among his prospective opponents include dangerous journeyman Radek Stepanek (#31), 2012 Chennai champion Milos Raonic (#25) and 2012 Auckland champion David Ferrer (#5). If he gets through all of them, he will reach the semi's where a replay of last year's final might ensue - a semifinal this time with Andy Murray (#4). If he wins that, he might have to play either Roger Federer (#3) or Rafael Nadal (#2), both past Australian Open champions! Quite an taxing two weeks for Novak!
His most likely quarterfinal opponent, David Ferrer, who is on a high right now after defending his Auckland title has Ryan Sweeting (USA) (#72), Juan Ignacio Chela (ARG) (#29) and Janko Tipsarevic (SRB) (#9), as prospective opponents. However, I think Novak might still win over him, should they meet in the quarters.
Let's see how it all unfolds tomorrow!
