Analyzing the Women's Draw of Wimbledon 2011: The Third Segment of the Draw
This is the part of the women's draw where all the leading contenders still have something to prove on grass. The best that any of the players in this side of the draw, has reached is the semi's and that list includes the French Open champion, Francesca Schiavone. I'm picking her to be the most likely one to reach the semifinals since among the ones who have the possibility to reach the quarters in this side of the draw, she is the most tough mentally! Also, being a veteran player already, she should be able to draw upon herself to fight during the most important points. Her most likely opponent, well, Victoria Azarenka, who has also been playing well, of late. She however, does not have yet, the mental mettle of Schiavone, especially during the most crucial points of the match.
This is not to say that this part of the draw is weak. It has many talented players in it but they still have to prove themselves on such grand a stage as Wimbledon! Who are they, well, there's the cute German player, Andrea Petkovic, the tough Israeli player, Shahar Peer, the dangerous junior, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the strong Estonian, Kaia Kanepi, who reached the quarters here last year, and the veteran Daniela Hantuchova.
It would be very interesting to see who of them would finally break into the semifinal stage of this Grand Slam.
