2015 US Open: Veteran Jurgen Melzer Makes Most of Limited Time

Now at 34 years old, veteran Austrian player Jurgen Melzer (#132) makes the most of the limited time that he's got and gets to the second round of the US Open for the ninth time.  This time, he won over American Denis Kudla (#75) 63 75 61.

It will be like old times in the second round, as he will meet Tomas Berdych (#6) of the Czech Republic.

Jurgen is a former top 10 player reaching as high as #8 in 2011. His best showing here in Flushing Meadows was in the fourth round in 2010.

His best showing in a grand slam is in the semifinals of Roland Garros in 2010.

This is his 34th appearance in the second round or beyond in all of the grand slams.
