Veteran journeyman Illya Marchenko (120) of Ukraine reaches the second round of the US Open for the second consecutive year. He defeated Frenchman Gael Monfils (#16) in the first round 26 64 50 Retd.
He lost to compatriot Sergei Stakhovsky (#60) 46 67(2) 64 46 in the second round.
It's his fifth time beyond the second round in all of the grand slams.
