Wimbledon and US Open champion Lleyton Hewitt (#355) gets to the 2nd round of the US Open for the last time in his illustrious career. He has said that he's going to retire after this season.
This is his 13th time into the second round of this grand slam and was champion here in 2001. He was runner-up in 2004 and was a semifinalist in 2000 and 2005.
Since he does not play anymore in the smaller tournaments, that's why his ranking is below the top 100.
His first round victory here was over Aleksandr Nedovyesov (#100) of Kazakhstan 60 76(2) 10. He will next meet his compatriot Bernard Tomic (#24) in the second round.
