Jelena Jankovic: Runner Up in Cincinnati 2011
Jelena Jankovic's (#14) last good performance was in Charleston where she reached the semifinals. So it's a good surprise to see her do well here in Cincinnati where there was a very competitive field present. She however lost to Maria Sharapova in a very tight finals 46 76(3) 63.
Jelena won over some very competent players here. In her semi's, she defeated #11 Andrea Petkovic 76(4) 61. #15 Peng Shuai had to withdraw from their quarterfinal match. In the 3rd round, she won a tough three setter match against #8 Francesca Schiavone 63 57 64. She also had another tough 3 set match against #65 Zheng Jie 46 63 61. Finally, she dominated #41 Iveta Benesova in the first round, 60 63.
