Juan Carlos Ferrero is no stranger to the Grand Slams, having reached the final here in Flushing Meadows before, and winning the French Open too. However, he is currently ranked #105 and is slowly finding his groove again even though the season is ending. He won over Pablo Andujar (#45) in five sets and will have a tough opponent in Gael Monfils in the second round.
