Guillermo Garcia-Lopez wins his second ATP title this week in Bangkok by defeating Jarkko Nieminen, who himself is in a comeback trail. Garcia-lopez's fairy tale run was highlighted by his semi-final win over world No. 1, Rafael Nadal. This was Guillermo's run to his second champion's title -
Final - Jarkko Nieminen (FIN) (#60) 6-4, 3-6, 6-4
SF - Rafael Nadal (ESP) (#1) 2-6, 7-6, 6-3
QF - Ernests Gulbis (EST) (#25) 7-6, 4-6, 6-3
2R - Florent Serra (FRA) (#70) 7-5, 6-7, 7-5
1R - Michael Berrer (GER) (#51) 6-4, 7-6
As you can see, it was not an easy run for Garcia-Lopez, as he had to battle three-setters from the scond round, all the way to the final! Currently ranked at #53, he has had to defeat three players ranked higher than him, and most importantly, had to deal with the #1 player of the world, to win his second ATP title. This should boost his confidence in his future matches.
