2018 Australian Open Blog Picks - Women's Draw: Elina Svitolina

World #4 Elina Svitolina of the Ukraine may finally get her first semifinal appearance here in Melbourne, if she keeps sustaining her winning form. She belongs to this batch of new talent who are just coming up the rankings and are already making headway into the women's game.
She has already been to two French Open quarterfinals so she has experience at that high level. I'm sure she wants to do one better here with a semifinal appearance.
The draw has been very kind for her. In her fourth round match, she will meet Denisa Allertova of the Czech Republic, who is not even in the top 100.

Newcomer Elise Mertens of Belgium is a possible opponent in the QFs and she should be able to handle Elise well.
Her most likely SF opponent is the veteran Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep, most probably, in the finals.
If she does go all the way, and I think she can do it!
