It has been a long wait, not only for Ana Ivanovic (#13) but for her fans as well. Would you believe that since her last French Open title in 2008, she had never reached the quarters or deeper in any grand slam? Finally, with the luck in the draw, she manages to get into her first US Open quarterfinal. This is her fourth trip into the fourth round, and this time, she manages to go one round deeper. She just defeated Bulgarian Tvetana Pironkova (#55) in their fourth round match. She also had earlier wins over American Sloane Stephens (#44), Swedish Sofia Arvidsson (#51) and Elina Svitolina of the Ukraine (#176).
We are still awaiting as to who her opponent in the quarterfinals will be but most likely, it's going to be Serena Williams.
