Alison Riske has reached the third round of Wimbledon three times, including this year. Using the head-to-head on her side of the draw, she comes up on top of her opponent in the third round, fellow American, Coco Vandeweghe, as well as her next possible opponents, Anett Kontaveit of Estonia and Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine, both very competent players.
She thus becomes my unlikely pick to make it all the way to the semi-final round of Wimbledon 2017 from her side of the draw. Early favorite Karolina Pliskova has been bundled out and the other top seed, Caroline Wozniacki might exit early as well, based on head-to-head.
Well, one thing is for sure, if Alison doesn't make it, it will be a surprise semi-finalist to lead their side of the draw.
