David Ferrer is probably the most recognizable face among the players in this year's Malaysian Open roster, being the most successful among them in singles play.
He has been going here every year (except last year) but has never made it past the QFs. So in the press conference, he said he was aiming for at least a final this year.
He did one better and won the title this year. I really think he wanted to win this year to make up for all the dismal performances he's had the previous years.
Since the points in this tournament is not too big, sometimes top players don't take to winning too seriously. But not this year, for David.
