The women's semifinal is about to start in a few minutes so I have to make a fearless forecast already. The first semifinal coming up is between two first Wimbledon semifinalists, Angelique Kerber and Agnieszka Radwanska. Both really played very well this fortnight. Kerber blasted Clijsters out of the court and also outpowered fellow German and fellow Wimbledon semifinalist Sabine Lisicki. Radwanska, on the other hand, used her subtle power to edge Kirilenko's challenge.
Although Angelique Kerber is a power player, I have seen how Agnieszka uses her brains to come up with wonderful shots, foiling any power play. She does remind me of Martina Hingis, they're not so much about power but the placement and cleverness in choice of shots.
The second semifinal is between two very powerful players - Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka. Serena has defeated Azarenka seven times before so psychologically she has the edge. She also has four Wimbledon crowns already. However, I am picking Azarenka because her ascent to #1 and her Australian Open title has given her so much confidence and she's really fierce now in the court - and she's clever too. Serena just relies on her powerful serve and baseline strokes.
Oh well, let's see how it goes!
