Juan Martin Del Potro Win at Estoril Shows He's Ready to Play in Clay
Finally, Juan Martin del Potro (#46) is slowly showing signs of his former brilliance. It has been a really slow climb back up but it has been a pretty steady upward climb these past few months. And with the clay season in full swing, his winning the championship in Estoril, makes him one of the dark horses - outsiders who may have a shot at the title, or at least a semifinal slot. By the way, he defeated French Open finalist Robin Soderling in the quarterfinals here.
This was his path to the championship -
F - Fernando Verdasco (ESP) (#15) 62 62
SF - Pablo Cuevas (URU) (#61) 62 76(6)
QF - Robin Soderling (SWE) (#5) 64 75
2R - Alejandro Falla (COL) (#135) 62 61
1R - Pedro Sousa (POR) (#488) 62 36 63
