Before this week, the only Hungarian female player I knew was Greta Arn, who incidentally, was also here in Monterrey competing. Instead an unknown player Timea Babos came out and grabbed the title. This is actually the first time I've ever heard of her, and because of her victory, she is already ranked #68. Such a huge leap! She won over another breakout player from Romania, Alexandra Cadantu. On the way to the final, Timea won over Sara Errani (#35) in the semifinals, and Sorana Cirstea (#49) in the second round.
