An opportunity presents itself to John Isner today as top seeds Cilic and Dimitrov have made early exits in their Wimbledon campaign, putting him as the top pick to get the semi-final slot in their side of the draw, mainly because he is the current #10 player in the world.
However, he has only made it as far as the 3rd round here in Wimbledon and has only one QF appearance in a grand slam, which in Tagalog, makes him hilaw to go all the way. Now that this opportunity is here, we will see if John takes advantage of it.
He has one main nemesis though and that is Milos Raonic, who has made it to the quarters, semi-finals and finals here. The only thing drawing him back is that he's not in top form right now, currently ranked #32 in the world, but just like Novak, may find it in themselves to take advantage of this unique opening.
Anyhow, John still has to defeat Albot of Moldova in the 3rd round before possibly meeting the very talented Tsitsipas in the fourth round and possibly Raonic in the QFs.
Anyway, just winning over Albot today is already a big step in the right direction for Isner.
