Journeyman John Millman of Australia (#119) reached the second round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career, making it his best performance here. He had already done that before in the Australian Open. He upset veteran Spanish player Tommy Robredo (#19) 62 63 64.
He lost to another veteran player, Cypriot Marcus Baghdatis (#59) 76(5) 62 36 26 46 in the second round.
