Current Wimbledon girl's champion, Jelena Ostapenko (#147) of Latvia, made a splashy debut here in Wimbledon by beating top ten player Carla Suarez Navarro (#9) 62 60.
Her display shows that the future of women's tennis is slowly making inroads in the main women's draw. She will next meet French player Kristina Mladenovic (#38) in the second round.
