WTA Brisbane International Featured Player: Sally Peers
Samantha Stosur, Jarmila Groth and Jelena Dokic are all into the 2nd round of the Brisbane International. Add a fourth Australian player in Sally Peers, ranked #154 in the world right now, winning over Russian Alisa Kleybanova ranked #25 - 36 64 63. This is a good start for Australian tennis, at least for the women's side. Both Dokic and Peers are ranked outside the Top 100, and with their wins here today, they should inch up a little. Peers' next opponent is also difficult, Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, ranked #67. Their side of the draw opens up because of Peers victory, and on paper, Marion Bartoli should be the one to benefit from it. Anyhow, we'll see later today if Peers gives out another good performance!
