I always knew that one of these days, Ekaterina Makarova of Russia was going to make her mark in the Grand Slam stage. Already a winner of a WTA title last year and an entry into the Top 50, it was only a bit of time before she made her presence felt in a Grand Slam stage. In the first Slam of the year, Ekaterina moves into the fourth round by upsetting Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in the first round 36 64 108. Then she bamboozled Lesya Tsurenko of the Ukraine in the second round 76(6) 61. In the third round, she upset another veteran, compatriot Nadia Petrova 62 36 86. In the fourth round, she is slated to meet #3 seed Kim Clijsters.
